Do you have a problem with flooding, erosion issues or other water related problems? We can come up with a strategic plan to divert water away from your home to protect your investment. Whether you need pop-up drains installed for your downspouts or you’re in need of a french drain to get rid of a lot of water, we can come up with a solution for you.
Pop-Up Drains
Installing pop-up drains for your downspouts and sump pumps is recommended for every home. For best results, we recommend diverting water at least 10 feet away from your home. Some owners use extension piping that is above ground but still does the trick. It’s not that appealing and becomes a hassle when you have to move it every week for lawn mowing. Underground pop-up drains solve these issues while still diverting water away from your home safely and efficiently. After the piping is installed, we install a pop-emitter that releases water at the end of the pipe. The pop-up emitter will release once the pipe is full of water. We can install 4” corrugated drain tile or 4” PVC drain piping. The corrugated drain tile is a cheaper alternative but is not as durable as PVC piping. All drains are sloped away from home to ensure water stays away from your foundation.
French Drains
Installation of french drains are primarily used to prevent ground and surface water from damaging building foundations. It can also be used to get rid of standing water in low areas of lawn or in ditches. French drains can also be installed for downspouts, sump pumps and retaining walls. Our french drain installations are installed with either 4” perforated corrugated drain tile or 4” perforated PVC. The corrugated drain tile is a cheaper alternative but is not as durable as PVC piping. All drains are sloped away from the home to ensure water stays away from your foundation.
Erosion Control
If you have noticed soil around the foundation of your home is eroding, it is more than likely due to your gutters being clogged or your downspouts and/or sump pump are releasing water too close to your home. Bright Green Landscapes can come by to evaluate your property and take care of all your water problems. We’ll evaluate your property and come up with a drainage solution. We can then backfill along your foundation and grade the area to slope all water away from your home.
Common Questions
Do I need a pop-up or french drain installation?
If you have flooding issues or erosion problem along your foundation, it is likely due to water being released too close to your home. This could be caused by a multitude of problems such as the existing grade is pitching towards the home, downspouts and/or sump is releasing water too close to home, or your gutters and downspouts may be clogged.
What’s better? Corrugated drain tile or PVC?
Corrugated drain tile is a cheaper alternative compared to PVC. They both get the job done but the PVC piping is more durable and will last longer. If you have a chipmunk or ground squirrel problem, it may be wise to go with PVC. These pesky animals are known to be able to chew through the corrugated piping from time to time. PVC piping is also recommended if drains are installed underneath patios, driveways or sidewalks.
What is a French Drain?
Installation of french drains are primarily used to prevent ground and surface water from damaging building foundations. It can also be used to get rid of standing water in low grades of lawn or in ditches. French drains are installed by trenching areas up to 2’ deep, installing up to 14” of ¾” stone, and backfilling with topsoil.
